As you may be aware, the government has introduced pension legislation that means all employers, regardless of size, and with only limited exceptions, have to automatically enrol their employees into a suitable pension scheme into which you and your employees must contribute.
The government have been advertising this for a while and by now you should have been contacted by the Pension’s Regulator and informed of the date you must have an active scheme in place (known as the staging date) We can find out more about auto enrolment and check your staging date for you. Every employer has new legal duties to help their workers in the UK save for retirement.
As an employer, you must automatically enrol certain workers into a qualifying workplace pension scheme and make contributions towards it. The larger employers have already carried out the Auto Enrolment process, and more and more employers are affected by the legislation each month.
At the peak in late summer 2017 around 135,000 employers are due to reach their respective compliance dates every single month. Its important that you plan early and take expert advice to ensure the most suitable outcome for your business. Failure to comply can lead to fines of up to £500.00 per day
